Heck my 2002 Chevy 3500 DRW's factory receiver was only rated for 750/7500.
I upgraded to a 2-1/2" receiver with a 2500/25000 rating. It will tow anything I could conceivably hitch to it, and wasn't much more expensive than a "class IV" hitch.
