Same type of issue with my black tank. After removing it, 'sewing' the top back on with copper wire and making a batch of abs to close and seal it.
I applied a couple of layers of closed cell foam with adhesive backing to the tank, rehung it by the original flange and added plumbers pipe strapping to make sure that the weight is properly distributed.
I added a couple extra strips of the foam and covered it with metal A/C duct tape just to be sure that the straps do not cut into the tank due to vibration/movement of traveling. Very cheap and very strong.
Sorry, as with most I my mods, I always forget to take pictures, guess that I am just not a photographer... If anyone is truly interested, next trip out to my RV I can take pics of the finished product... Let me know.
The foam also has insulation properties for the cold weather campers...
