If the tank is bigger than a span of 32", an assumed weight of 300+ lbs. is even beyond the loading capacity of 3/4" plywood. The best fix would be to reduce the span by adding in center support that is adequate to hold 150+ lbs. IMO, that would be 1/8" angle steel, bolted to the trailer's frame supports.
