My Honda 2KW 2000i lives secured in the tailgate corner of my covered truck bed.

When I use mine I just pull it out onto the dropped tailgate.

If it is bad weather i just push it back under the FOLD-A-COVER bed cover... I can also close the tailgate and prop open the FOLD-A-COVER lid next to the rear window with a stick or something...

I'm usually not loaded down like when this photo was taken...

This is great for me for weather control and security of the generator.

My Generator goes where we go - never left unattended anywhere when we are not around...

  • I carry two pieces of plywood just large enough to cover the generator, hinged together to form a teepee over our Honda 2000 while running in a heavy rain or snow. Being hinged, it lays flat in the bed of the truck and takes up no room. Fortunately, we haven't had to use it very often. :)
  • till this year , I always used my twin Honda's in the weather at the NASCAR races with no issues.... And we have had MANY HARD/LONG rain storms while at the tracks.... Just don't walk up to them and start playing with the plugs is all..
  • I don't have red but blue... It has run in heavy rain and heavy snow without issue. That said, I don't go out and play with the connections in the rain either. Use common sense and wear shoes if you have to touch it while it's wet, less chance of grounding through your feet.
  • Can you just place the generator underneath your truck to protect it from the rain and continue using it?
  • Here is the official wording from the manual...

"The generator is a potential source of electrical shock if misused. Do
not expose the generator to moisture, rain or snow. Do not let the
generator get wet, and do not operate it with wet hands."

I've run my Honda 3000i in a small drizzle a couple of times, but it's a different design than the 2000i... My manual says the same thing as above..

I would not run it in a steady rain or downpour that's for sure.

You could always put it under a canopy if it's raining too? If the wind picks up, well.... That's your call too.. :)

    Good luck!
