Hay Ripit you might want to look at RVP`s website www.rvcomfort.com , the drop down menu that says literature and tech docs has some tests to do to see if the ac is working properly , the rvp tech ph#is 316-832-4357
If your ac is a 9000 series it should run on a honda , maybee your compressor is worn. If its an old good one and you can get parts from the factory its definatly worth fixing , because you cant get a 9201 anymore
All Polar cubs have soft start kits from the factory,
Ripit you might check the voltage your getting at the ac breaker in the dist panel when the hondas running , lower voltage is going to cause higher amp draw
Reddog I have had 2 model 9201 polar cubs that ran on eco mode at 8000ft elv., all the time and ran great ,one was on a 2004 outfitter apex 9.5
There is a diffrence between saying 9000 series PC`s and 9200btuh PC`s, all PC`s have been 9200 btuh even if some pepole have thought they were 7200 or 8800 or whatever ,the RVP tech told me that in 2005, but the models have changed and even the 9000 series have had diffrent amp draws than the one you have when the model changed from a thru e . All below 9 amp though.
When the freon changed 3-4 years ago the numbers jumped way up , but every one is still quoting around 9 amp draw and when someone askes a"will a polar cub run on a honda "question everyone says yes no problem , but that is not true if you buy one now or in the recent past . I wish it was ,I want one again that pulls only 9 amps
I have not had a newer freon model like a 49201 ,which is still a 9200btuh unit , there are a bunch diff models #`s they made over the last 3-4 years .But when I went to buy one I checked with RVP techs and googled recent results and found that combo is very close to runing or not running together
Right now you can still buy a unit that says polar cub on it , old stock ,but as distributers run out and new mach 8 cubs come in this kind of will it or wont it run discution may be reduced .
I an envious of all of you that have a 4+ year old polar cub , treat them well
You can see all the old and new model unit data sheets on RVP`S website, they started as 9000 series , then went to 4900 series , now 4700 series
