I don't remember, but there were instructions in the package and I followed them.
I did dig this up somewhere in an old thread:
do you have (2) OEM capacitors or just (1), IF only one does it have (3) terminals
If you have ONE with 3 terminals it is a combination device and you have to leave the run side connected and disconnect the start side, the suppco is connected as the 'start' cap
if you have two caps the OEM start cap is replaced by the suppco
if you have only a run cap, the suppco is connected as the start cap but NOT parallel to the run cap
