It's stories like that why I'd never want a diesel unless I absolutely needed the power/torque.
With our V10 F250 pulling 7K lb TT, typically 8-9 mpg unless in mountain terrain it will go down a bit. That's fairly typical mpg from what I've read for most 3/4 T gas trucks. The length & weight of TT doesn't affect mpg since frontal area is the main factor (unless towing a lot up the Coquihalla hwy). Our mpg is a lot lower for short in-town trips tho.
Since we camp mostly in the US, we usually gas it up with US gas at a much lower price, except for lately with our low dollar it's not the bargain it used to be.
At least in Abbotsford you don't have to pay the extra gas tax like the rest of Metro Vancouver. :(
