Honest feedback on fuel

I currently have a 1 ton diesel dually and I am towing a 5500 lb dry, 10,000 lb gross trailer. Probably 7500 lbs on average. I am having issues with my diesel, it is killing me in maintenance. I just put my 4th set of injectors in in 120K. Since I spend 6 months a year in Mexico there are 2 problems with getting another:

1) They do not sell diesel PU's in Mexico and getting service is hard
2) They do not sell ULSD fuel in Mexico and you take your chances with 2007 + trucks

So I am considering going gas. I am wondering what people here with a 2012-2015 3/4 ton HD gas get for fuel economy towing a trailer about the size of mine. I get 13 MPG when towing right now with the diesel.

$5000 bucks a shot. The originals don't count and the first were done under warranty. last 2 on my coin.
  • 2013 Chevy 6.0 2500 towing 8500lbs worst in a headwind 7.8. Best 9.5. Average 8.5-9
  • I just pulled the camper home in my sig this weekend, with the truck in my sig. The camper weighed 6300lbs according to the sticker. It was empty.

Granted, it's a small sample, at about 600 miles, but I got 8.5mpg. That's at 65mph, and with a pretty solid wind, head on, or on the quarter, for about half that drive, and rolling hills for roughly half. Under better conditions, I'd hope for closer to 9mpg. Maybe a bit more with a little luck or a little less speed. Doubt I'll ever see 10 though unless we move somewhere flat.
