Almost all of the horsepower vs. torque wars on this forum boil down to not understanding this very simple point.

It's also why as transmissions have changed from 3 to 4, 6 and 8 speeds eventually the "peak" HP will translate more directly into the faster truck. The width of the required area under the curve (operating rpm range) will shrink. This assumes the published numbers are accurate.
