I tell you what, take two semi tractors with 18 speed transmissions and have one of them have an original 350 hp big truck diesel in it. Take the second one and put a factory spec 350 hp gas in it. Load the two trucks to 80,000 and then take off from coast to coast. See which truck tows the load better. Remember, they have the same hp and plenty of gears to choose from so they will be able to maintain the same speed.
For a more fair comparison, try putting a pickup truck diesel with 350HP instead of the original truck diesel motor. The original truck motor has a massive block and cooling system for the amount of HP it makes.
Pickup truck diesels are not in the same league as big rig diesels.
O.K, no problem. Run coast to coast. I was only using a big truck motor to show the difference in two motors with the same hp but one having more torque at the flywheel.I know that pick up truck diesels are not in the same league as a big rig diesel but in the same breath a pick truck gas motor is not in the same league as a pick up diesel motor. Some people think they are.
