Not really. :) Terry Pennington's F.A.S.T. L88 Corvette ran 10.33 at 133MPH on 6" wide Polyglas tires! His wife's car (also an L88 Corvette, though absolutely 100% stock and proven such by a teardown!) ran 11.54 at 120MPH, also on narrow bias-plys.
Even scarier: Lane Carey's 1971 SCJ Mustang and Dave Dudek's 1969 Hemi Road Runner are both running 9's at 139MPH...with stock-appearing cars, on 6" wide bias-plys! (Carey's car will actually get air under the front tires!) A guy named Ed Cook ran a 10.38 with his 1963 Plymouth (a LEGIT Max Wedge car), with a stunning 1.57 60' time!
