Hmmm .... according to the horsepower equation (seen several times way earlier in this long discussion) .... a measurement of torque on the crankshaft resulting from the explosions in the pistons is required. Where - and what kind of - transducer, somewhere in the engine or driveline is providing input to the scanner so it's logic circuits can calculate horsepower output of your engine?
I'm open to being educated on how vehicle manufacturers would pull off this kind of measurement. Maybe a centrifical force gauge, or an inertia gauge, could provide calibrated torque data for inputting to a scanner?? An interesting "instrumentation" issue here.
