I bought my Host direct from the factory. They gave me 21.18% off MSRP.Now that Host has dealers it would cost me about 9% in sales tax. I told Host that if I decided to buy a Mammoth I would not buy it from a Calif. dealer because of the increased cost, which would be nearly $4k(sales tax).
Another potential problem is that if I paid sales tax, the County and or State would ding me for personal property tax, which would be another $500 or so a year.
Both of these issues would be a deal breaker for me. Host said they would adjust the price of the camper down to account for the sales tax, but I would still be potentially on the hook for the property tax, still a deal breaker. I will have to either buy it from an Oregon dealer or convince Host to sell it to me direct.
