Host Chinook ?

I'm looking at the Host Chinook 8.5 for a short bed PU. I can't seem to find any dealers any where in the country that has one on the lot.

Any opinions on this company and their products? Even Truck Camper Magazine doesn't acknowledge them. What's up?
  • East End Campers (NY), which also owns Truck Camper Warehouse (NH), used to be a dealer for Host (I see you're from Maine). I looked at a Host Everest at EEC back in 2010. They dont seem to represent or sell Host anymore. I got the feeling back then that things with Host were changing, and soon after that they were selling factory direct. I agree it would be best to call the factory and get it straight from the horse's mouth.
  • Host is not the most popular brand out there and has always been a smaller company. Unlike some of the other smaller companies that went under when the economy declined, they are holding on by downsizing more. I still like my camper after all of these years.

That being said, call the company for info. Unlike the bigger companies, you'll get to talk to a person. If you want a common brand, I think the only choice is Lance.

When I bought my camper in '06, I had the option of looking at all of these in person in my area of the Northwest: Bigfoot, Arctic Fox, Lance, Eagle Cap, Snow River, Adventurer, Northern Lite, Host, S&S, Northstar, Alumnalite, Okanogan, and a few more.

Many of those no longer exist. As other have said, Truck Camper Magazine is similar to other magazines that focus on making money. Not a bad thing (I understand they need money), but not exactly comprehensive on what's available or possible.
  • Just ran a nationwide search for Host truck campers on RV Trader.com site.

Only one was shown, and that was in Phoenix AZ. Not a Chinook model.
  • I found a 14 Host Chinook 8.5 Ft. but the dealer is located in Manteca Ca.
I Think you might have to go through the factory. Host is located in Oregon.

  • if there aint no dealers for them and you can't find their product anywhere than something is up
  • I could be wrong, but It's my understanding they are factory-direct sales only right now. There used to be a dealer in my area, but they don't carry them any more.
  • If the company doesnt pay for a sponsorship, TCM does not list or mention them.
