Any ideas as to why my electric cord going into the service connect is hot? The plastic around the plug and about 1 foot of cord is hot coming out of the box. It is 30 amp service. Been hot today and ...

In that case, I would just clean up my plug contacts with a sandpaper nail file and some steel wool and try again but if it still gets hot I would not use the air conditioner. If the rubber around the blade contacts is melted I think I would forgo the air conditioner anyway and just open as many windows as possible and run the exhaust fan if you have one.
