Hot Water is Only Warm Water

This issue might be a continuation of yesterday's problem. Yesterday my issue was that the water was not heating up. Well after an hour or so it got hot but today, the best I can get is somewhat warm. My unit is new and I am waiting for service to call me back but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I was thinking about turning off the electric heating switch and waiting and trying again.....but open to other suggestions.
  • The dealer told you wrong. The cold line on the bottom open, hot on top open, the bypass closed.

The cold water comes in the bottom of the heater, as it is warmed it rises, hot water is taken off the top of the heater. By pass is closed or you are just mixing cold water back in with the hot water.

For winterizing, all valves are just the opposite, and you drain the water out of the heater so it doesn't freeze and bust the thing wide open. Then you can fill the lines with antifreeze and the antifreeze won't get into the heater (which is not wanted because its too difficult to get all the antifreeze back out of it).
  • I had a similar problem for a while until I closed the heater bypass fully - the hot water was being mixed with cold when it was only half opened...
  • Thank you all, by listening to you all and talking to the person at the next site, my valves are all set and water is hot......now I need to talk to the service center (dealer) who told me the wrong information.

    Thanks again.

if you asked the salesman, then you shouldn't be surprised you got the wrong answer. They are there to sell, nothing more. If you talk to the service manager, you probably would get good information.
