- jaycocreekExplorer IIIn my younger years I worked in a RV and mobile home factory that built pickup campers/travel trailers and mobile homes.Looking at that video it appears not much has changed except the fast forward mentality.More time was given to each station to do the job and each station had a final look by the lead station boss before it moved to the next station.
I guess the old..They don't build them like they used too..applies here. - goducks10ExplorerAnd we get all excited about getting a new one.
- OasisbobExplorerA sad testimonial for sure. Probley not that different from so many others. The Chinese are comming.
- rbpruExplorer IIYes it is easy to criticize but they pound out 25 day at a price people will pay. The majority of the TTs meet the customers needs.
When Airstream or other try to offer a high dollar unit they get a bad rap for being over priced.
It is the way market is; and it is not going to change much. - DutchmenSportExplorerIn March 2006 we toured the Denali (Dutchmen) assembly plant. There is absolutely no difference in the way it was done in 2006 (and a different manufacturer) and the way it's still being done today.
Click here sit back and watch the slides. This was 2006, March. - stus__familyExplorerWe have visited both Rockwood and Jayco plants in the last couple of years and assembly is as you see it in the video.
At Jayco last summer the tour started with a video at the founders home and then a tour guide takes you to the plant in a special tour vehicle. Our tour was at 2:00 PM and most of the workers were done for the day as they start at 5:00AM then leave after they meet their quota. They were building 5th wheels at this plant the units move through I believe about 16 work stations with the last station being an inspection area. From what I saw on the tour I would not be afraid of the quality of the units.
At Rockwood the tour was more personal as the line supervisor had a note pad to write down any of our concerns which were minimum as they were building model 8315 units at the time which is the trailer model that we own.
I looked at the next years RV Show and they had corrected the little problems that I had told them about. I don't know if it was my comments or not but I was glad to see that they had corrected the problem.
Great tours at both factories you can stay at the Elkhart KOA which is also great and then tour all of the surrounding Amish area. - toaobigalExplorerAnd to think that Jayco's have a quality reputation...
- bhallExplorer....but Amish Craftsmen!
- CarrierExplorerIf I wasn't depressed before after watching that I'm ready to just burn mine now!!! I have a windjammer and can't see it being much different.
