I was a Boy Scout in a troop that was focused on hiking and camping (no Eagle Scouts there). So I knew camping was fun. But my parents weren't campers and I had different interests in my post scouting years.
My wife grew up in an RV family. And she even rode from her sister's house to our wedding venue standing up in her parent's Dolphin Class A MH.
But I initially converted her to my favored outdoor adventure at the time, street motorcycles. She ended up with her own bike and we had enough luggage to do multiple 10-day 2K mile trips. We camped a couple of times with the bikes, but decided we much preferred Visa-Camping (hand your Visa card to the motel clerk) and related amenities.
We tent camped for a number of years with friends who had a ski boat and take us out on the Colorado River. A lot of those prep and organization skills carry over to today with our RV.
We had an uncle pass away in 2013 and leave us a little cash, so my wife suggested we apply it towards the TT we bought in early 2014. I'm now hooked.
