How did you wire your awning LEDs?

Struggling to figure out where to power or wire my leds.. I dont have any outlets in any of my compartments.

How did you wire yours?

  • X2 for using the porch light if nearby the awning. I was able to run a short 18" cable directly from the light up to the awning, where I split into a fore and aft run of led lights. The led kit came with a wireless remote to control the led color and brightness, along with other features.

The blue led light option on low intensity works great at night without any concern for bothering other campers.
  • I drilled a hole directly through my wall.....straight through.....no ship. I caulked that SOB like a boss. The inside happened to be the inside of my bathroom storage cabinets. I ran that along the side down to the converter. I popped in a 10 amp fuse and hi-fived myself in the mirror. Party on Wayne.

If I had to do it all again, I would put a switch between the converter and the controller before I hi-fived myself in the mirror.
  • Geeeez, here we go already...
Ignoring the above post, you should be able to pick it off from the porch light if close. Alternatively you might be able to find something inside access able through a cabinet and drill it out. If you're talking it to the awning tube, those that have it talked from the factory have the wiper threaded through the end seam of the fabric. If you choose to go that way,it will limit your options a tad, but it'll sure look sexy.
  • I didn't - I care about other campers too much. However, if you must - a 12v or whatever kind of receptacle in the front passthrough (you might have a cargo light there - you'd just drop the line from that lighting fixture) will do the trick.
