A truck driver is trained to get out and look when in doubt. I drove this for 3 years in the late 70's and hardly ever had to climb down to walk back and look.

The trailer camera is hard wired. For it to work, it has to be mounted in a specific spot about 4 " above the level of the tailgate camera. Might work on a door if there is space with it folded down. Flatbed or a boat you would need to rig up some sort of removable mount.

Multi cameras and the right software can do some slick stuff. My question would be what kind of camera do you have to mount on the trailer and is it hard wired or wireless? What do you do if its a boat, flatbed, drop down rear door, ect? Might be fine on a rv but I pull several different kinds of trailers.

Family friend had a F450 Platinum and tailgate was stolen. $6k replacement cost.

Well there's your problem...don't use random strangers as spotters.

Also hand signals work much better than verbal messages.

Ummm...No.

They have 3 cameras. One on each side of the truck plus one on the back of the trailer. They then merge the images in real time taking into account the positioning of the cameras.

Not sure how useful it is in real life but nifty technology.
