We're are struggling with propane lifting problem also. I'm considering a removable or swing out boom with a small block and tackle with a jam cleat, to hoist the bottle up to slip it in place.
I had a similar system to hoist a heavy dingy on deck by myself.
^^^This. After injuring both shoulders over the last year or so, I was also having trouble doing ANYTHING that involved lifting or working above shoulder height. My shoulders have gotten better, but they will never be like they were before the injuries.
I've given considerable thought to what I could do to make the job of handing the tanks easier, and I think the quickest, least expensive solution that would work for me is a collapsible or swing-away boom mounted above the compartment that would provide an attachment point for a light duty rope hoist.
The LP tanks on the 1121 are horizontal, but the compartment they are in is just above shoulder height, and is sized such that they are a very tight fit and are therefore difficult to get in and out. The way the pigtails are routed also forces you to shut off and disconnect both tanks to remove one for refilling.
Any thoughts on this option, sleepy?
