Bucky writes “Several people were willing to answer his question, and did. Francesca even posted a website for the OP. Maybe some of us don't read anything before spouting off?”

Really?
Telling someone to look at a website or go to the dealer isn’t what it is cracked up to be, especially in this case where it appears there is no recall BUT there was a push to get a class action suit.
You can search the NTSB website for days and never find any conclusive results since there is so many recalls..
In this case the design of the hitch is QUESTIONABLE at best (there is SOMETHING wrong when the hitch is PURPOSELY designed to use the BUMPER as a reinforcement)..
Don’t you find it odd that there is a hoaky at best “bracket” which attaches the bumper to the hitch? That attachment should be speaking, no, YELLING that there is a potential weak point which has been whitewashed...
The dealer AND the website will TELL YOU there is no recall if there is no recall (they are not going to “offer” any info on investigations or class action suit) so you will assume that all is well and go ahead and use a questionable hitch anyways.. That is not “helping” the OP at all nor is it helping the general public who is minding their own business on public roads if the hitch in question were to fail while the OP is towing..
Anyone with half a mind can easily take one look at that design and realize that something is not right about it and that is most likely why the OP asked the question.. and it IS a good question which DESERVES a better answer than simply saying to check with a dealer or website..
It was a cheaply designed hitch and for some peace of mind can be replaced for $200 with a much stouter designed hitch… That is what the OP NEEDS to know.
It takes no effort to direct someone to a dealer or website.
It does take some thought and effort to HELP with more info than a dealer or website answer..
I would replace it..
