Curt Class V Receiver
I replaced the hitch on my 2003 GMC with the one I linked above. I like that it's rated for 2400lb tongue weight, and 16,000 trailer weight, well above what I'm towing.
The way it attaches to the frame it spreads the load out further up the rails, and does not rely on the bumper for strength.
Some people think that hitch receivers must be rigid, but really the tube that connect the hitch between the rails should act like a torsion spring to some degree. That's why its called a "torque tube".
Anyway, I used E-Trailer and they were reasonably priced, shipped my front and rear receiver within one day of ordering, and both arrived in perfect condition with free shipping and no sales tax. I'm a happy customer. Hans
