I bought a Pontiac Montana Van new in 1999 on a 5 year pay plan. The monthly payment was $260. When I paid it off I continued to put $260 per month into a savings for the purchase of next car. You will need a vehicle all of your life so expect to either make payments or save and pay cash. If you put money away monthly like you were making a car payment you can pay cash for a vehicle every 10 years and not have to pay any interest.
