How do you determine how much to spend on a truck?

I've also never leased a vehicle. It may be a viable option for some, especially with today's vehicle prices. I just hate the idea of having nothing at the end of the lease. I suppose one could purchase the vehicle at the end of the lease. But then you are financing a new vehicle for 7-8 years once it is finally yours.
