Historical car prices based on inflation

I found this spreadsheet compiled by the US Government. On an adjusted for inflation basis for sales price of new cars, it was actually higher in 1913 then 2013.

$33,670 in 1913
$25,487 in 2013

Also another point to think about. The interest rate on a car loan in 1980 was somewhere around 18 percent. Nowdays it's anywhere from 0-6.9 ish.
