How do you determine how much to spend on a truck?

I agree cars and trucks are inexpensive. So are many other items that used to be considered expensive, such as televisions, and appliances. The problem is so many people want everything and lack the self discipline to plan and save for the future. They finance everything and end up never experiencing the freedom of being in control of their money. I've never felt it was much of a sacrifice to drive an old car or truck.
