But I don't want millions on my 169th birthday, I want the feeling that rod gives me today. You can make the mathematically smart decision every day of your life and miss life completely.
It's not about scrimping and saving so you have a gazillion dollars when your dead. It's about trying to envision your entire life so you can plan to make the most of it. Most people who spend their pennies freely when they are younger won't have dollars to spend freely down the road. When a 25 year old kid without a wife or child says, "I want this new truck now....I could care less about helping my daughter go to university 20 years down the road" he is really showing that he lacks insight to his future self.
