^^^It seams there is all sorts of ways to be stupid when it comes to spending money. When I was 25 I was able to purchase an old house for my first home. My dad gave me an interest free 5 year loan to purchase it. We still own that old house and rent it out for $1000/month. 20 years ago we built our 2nd/present house without requiring a mortgage and we just bought our very first brand new personal vehicle.....A 2017 Honda Civic. We have borrowed quite large amounts of money in the way of business loans so I am certainly not opposed to taking on debt. I encouraged my 24 year old daughter to take out a mortgage and helped her build her first house. The money we saved during the construction of the house together with the money my daughter had saved has allowed her to start out with 30% equity in her home. She rents a room out to her friend which covers nearly half her mortgage payment. She also worked her tail off to get through university without a student loan. I believe what we do with our money when we are young is hugely important to setting the stage for our future.
