I'm assuming you mean at a dump station.
1. I unlock my coach door and turn the water pump on to be ready to wash my hands. I open my dump compartment.
2. Pull the end cap off carefully watching for a leak, pull out the slinky and attach.
3. Pull the black open slightly. After it runs a bit, open the rest of the way.
4. After it completes, work the valve a few times and leave it closed.
5. Pull the grey open slightly. After it runs a bit, open the rest of the way watching for soap overflow. It happens on some dumps.
6. Repeat step 4 for grey valve.
7. Disconnect slinky and hold it up to let it drain into the dump.
8. Store slinky.
9. Attach end cap.
10. Wash my hands inside.
11. Add deodorizer to grey/black with water.
12. Turn off water pump, close and lock the door.
13. Close and lock the dump compartment.
I can just about guarantee that anyone who puts on gloves isn't anywhere near as clean as they think they are. My favorite are those who put the gloves on then cross contaminate everything including their keys and door handles. Then, there are the ones who stick the end of the water hose to clean their slinky out or grab the end of that hose which has probably been down lots of slinkies. No, I don't wash my slinky. It doesn't smell and has been totally fine in 20 years of RVing.
I think it is better to assume you will get "dirty" and wash your hands.
