How do you feel about people walking through your campsite?
Very, very, rarely happens so I never think about it. Has happened maybe 2-3 times in 11 years. - Dadio24ExplorerHave an extra chair handy and invite them to stop and enjoy your spot...or ask them where they camp so you can say hello while walking thru their spot. People can be so disrespectful...

Now that would be fun, make it a very uncomfortable conversation. You know stand to close, talk about inappropriate topics, you could have some real fun with this. Not only would they avoid your campsite, they would avoid your side of the campground. Sounds like a win win situation. :B
Say Hi, and strike up a conversation. That never ends. Yes i am that wierd creepy person everyone avoids!:B - rockhillmanorExplorerI full time and have seen it all.
Because I have dogs when someone cuts thru my site they bark, and guess who is going to be in trouble with CG owners? Hmmm barking dogs or person cutting thru site?. You all know the answer to that one.
So now I just make sure I park my toad in such a manner to prevent cut thru's and place lawn chairs accordingly. Do it without even thinking about now. Been working for us for years now.

Wow there are a lot of uptight people on this thread. I go camping to relax. If someone walks through my site I try to say hello and make sure to have an empty chair if they want they end up staying for a minute. I guess I must be different but I enjoy taking opportunities to meet new people.
NO, this is not about being uptight. It is about rudeness and inconsiderate people. If they wanted to meet you they would politely walk up to your area and strike up a conversation.
Our acceptance of an increasingly large number of behaviors that were (and still are) considered rude or thoughtless has resulted in more and more of those behaviors being acted out by many more people.
This is also about rights and responsibilities. They feel ENTITLED to do what they want (their RIGHT to walk thru your campsite) but they ignore their responsibility...to ASK politely first.

I feel like they are trespassing on my rented property.
Ditto.
It's one of the most annoying things when camping in busy places - usually state parks. - JIMNLINExplorer III

WHY would you post a question like this? Nobody likes folks walking through their campsite. Although some CGs have paths that go between sites to create shortcuts to the showers, etc. Wave hello and get on with whatever you were doing.
Much depends on the size of the site others are taking a short cut. Small/narrow sites and those folks taking a short cut many times rubber neck in windows and doors.
Those taking a short cut through larger sites don't have to walk up next to my trailer and look in my windows and doors.
If I rent a campsite that others use it as a short cut to somewhere I put out my camping gear/chairs/cots/ice boxes/or park the truck or if I have the boat I park the trailer so it blocks intruders.
RV parks/campgrounds are just a extension of urban/rural dwellers. All types of folks ....some have no manners

Their point is if something inconveniences them intruding on others is perfectly OK and their rude behavior is the fault of someone else. In this case the villian is the campground that they feel is laid out improperly. If they were one row from the beach they can cut through your site and the ocean would be what to blame since it is in the wrong place. Excuses are like you know what, everyone has one.rv2go wrote:
I don't like it. But, some CG's are laid out that to get to the bathroom/shower would require a long long walk.
And your point would be? :h - dadmomhExplorerWe've rarely had this happen, but on a couple of occasions we just rearranged the table and chairs to make it a lot harder. Some parents obviously missed teaching their children the "manners" class - or never took it themselves - and DH just quietly and inconspicuously said "walk around" and continued on with his reading...the kids didn't come back through. On the flip side, we've enjoyed some very nicely taught children who would stop at the edge of the road and ask if they could come in and pet our dog. Never had this happen with adults.
- mockturtleExplorer IIIt is rude. When it happens with children, which is often the case, I explain, in a friendly manner, that it isn't 'nice' to walk through someones site. I figure their parents haven't taught them campground etiquette.
