How do you tell when your waste tanks are full?

Our camper has indicator lights on the range hood that profess to show the level in each of the waste tanks. But I'm not sure I can trust the lights. I don't want to pull up stakes and go looking ...

When mine gets close to full. You get a unpleasant smell when it is flushed.
Then it is time to dump.

When at long term parked. Have a repeat dump 11 day repeated schedule on my PC calendar.
And 2 days before that a 11 day repeated close gray tank.
