Just curious has anyone had a blow out at freeway speeds?
Yes, but not on the truck while a camper was on it, Several spread out over a lot of years. One happened coming down 17 from flagstaff to phoenix. I had a TC on a 68 1/2ton chevy pulling a 2 horse trailer with tandem axles. It didn't effect the truck at all and I had no problem pulling over.
I have had a blow out on our 16ft BP flatbed and on our 24ft GN Flatbed each was overloaded with ceder logs and had old tires. The truck was empty each time and I had no problem controlling it.
The worst blow out with a trailer was on 395 coming back from camping above Bishop. I was moving along in my 56 1/2 ton chevy with my canvas sided poor mans camper. Just some wooden stakes with a tarp stretched over them, and all my camping and horse gear in the bed. It was a single axle trailer. When the tire blew the trailer tried to jack knife, I could see the side of the trailer in the mirror. It was no fun but I got it pulled over all in one piece. That little 1/2 ton held it ok.
