Although I agree with you. I work full time and don't always have as much time to make a far away destination as I would like. When pressed for time, I keep the speed down but reduce the amount time I am stopped. I find I make better time if I stay rolling instead of turning a 15-20 minute fuel stop into a 30-60 minute delay. I plan for 500 miles on a long travel day which will typically take 10 hours with included stops. We have covered more distance or driven longer, but then it is no longer a vacation for us. We try to make our vacation the entire trip from when we leave home to the time we return, not when we reach the destination and leave it.
