How hard does the 2014 Ram SB 2500 ride?

I'm planning to buy a 2500 Ram, slightly used 2013 or '14, short bed. four door. My concern is the ride. I had a 2008 reg cab 2500 4X4 Diesel that rode too hard to keep very long. Later I had a 2010 2500 2X4 reg cab Diesel that wasn't much better. My hope is that technology has advanced enough in the ride department to now go with a 4 dr, short bed two wheel drive. This time it will be with the Hemi instead of the diesel.
Anyone have a 2013 or 2014 HEMI who can give me their evaluation as to ride comfort.
Otherwise, I may have to go with a 2500 "long bed" which I know first hand rides well enough for me, just not a fan of four door, long beds--too long.
  • I test drove a 2013 2500 before buying my 2014. The difference in ride with the rear coil springs in the 2014 when compared to the leafs in the 2013 is night and day. It's still a truck, and rides firm, but the ride is much improved.

Those who imply the coils are "wimpy" have no idea what they are talking about. The ride is better, yet they still have the ability to carry heavy loads without the saggy rear end look. I think I've proven and tested that with my videos and pictures. They likely think that because of the 1500 Ram. It has coils, and will sag quite a bit under load.

The current F250 sags way more than a Ram 2500 with coils.

There is also the option of the air suspension in the Ram 2500 if that interests you.

    X2!!

Soft ride and ability to carry a load don't really go together.
Things that help is good shocks, and adjusting the tire pressure when unloaded.Today's trucks ride better than older trucks, but it is a truck designed to carry a load, it will always be on the firm side.
  • I have the 2014 2500 HD Mega Cab and love it. Ye sit is not a Cadillac ride but is very nice for a truck. When I have my 5'ver behind me I hardly know its there. Hope this helps.
  • The 2014 Ram the family and myself find quite comfortable and have taken it on a couple long road trips. The 2014 is probably better than the 2013 because of the suspension change. But ride comfort is subjective. Thousand times better than my previous long bed crew cab F350.
