How long can TC be on back of truck?

Curious... A couple weeks okay? Do you lower the jacks to take pressure of the rear springs of the truck while the camper is still loaded?

  • Mine hasn't been off in years. I put the jacks down and unweight the suspension for the winter just for the 'feel good' factor.

But I have had heard the question asked...do you ever take the weight off a Class A or C? No and I have never seen one sagging.
  • I like to take weight off if sitting a long time ,by using the jacks until springs separate. But look at all the refrigerator trucks and welding trucks ect, they always have the weight on them. The big trucks must be built to handle it. If your fulltiming and not removing your camper I wouldn't be worried about it. If you have a lighter camper even better,my 1191 is heavy and hasn't been a problem with suspension and only gets weight off it once in a while when not being used.
  • My old camper, which is still sitting on my old truck, hasn't been off the truck in 20 years. The suspension is still sitting where it has been all of that time. And my current camper, the guy I bought it from said he never took it off, not even one time, so that has to be at least 15 years. Your truck should be fine.

  • When parked, the tires will probably rot before the suspension fails.
  • A better question is do you ever take it off? I only took mine off the truck so that I could take the truck in for some work. To answer the other part of your question, I only drop the jacks to stabilize the rig in winds while camping not to take the load off the truck..
