What is it you are asking? I carry water in my tanks, about a third of a tank that can be used if necessary. We usually camp with full hook ups or at least water and electric. I empty any water in the tank when I get home. Prior to leaving on a trip, I'll put a little water in the tank and then dump it, then add water as desired.And, I do make sure all compartments and doors are locked when traveling.

I agree to some extent, because the only water that would or could escape would be that in the lines & flowing to the lowest point.On the other hand, you may not discover a small leak for sometime under those conditions.You would however become aware of a possible leak much sooner if the pump switch was on constantly because the pump would continually cycle, alerting you that there is a problem.

When we're at a CG, I leave the city water connected. If we go somewhere I turn the water off, but leave the hose connected. I'm basically doing what you are talking about. I think most do the same.

We fill the fresh water tank and leave the city water turned off until we need to refill the tank. Also turn off the pump when we leave for the day (when we remember to do so, anyway). The only mental effort involved is remembering to turn off the city water before the fresh water tank overfills. Forgot once - the overflow line got a good cleaning.Locking the bin doors is a good idea. A door on a MH we test drove kept popping open while driving.

Always leave the water pump off when not in the camper for more than a few minutes. If there is a leak, you should notice it while you are there.And if you are hooked to city water---turn it off at the spigot when you leave.

Same as others. We pump from the tank, fill it when low. Obviously shut it off when not there.

We've had our camper for 8 years and never used a city water hook up. Water pump only on at point of use and same for HW heater.

I turn off the water pump when I leave my rig unattended.

If I am hooked up to city water, I turn off the water spigot.

I rarely lock the compartments if they have two latches (locking and non locking). I only have one compartment.

The battery compartment and fresh water fill always are locked because they only have one latch.

The propane compartment has no locks. I installed small padlocks on the propane bottles to deter theft.

Even on hookups, we typically fill the fresh tank and pump from it. This prevents growth or stale water in our tank since we camp at least twice a month all year.
