Other determining factors are brand of truck and year. Some early Fords (1994-2004) had a lot of frame flex built in. A long bed truck will flex more than a short bed truck, regardless of the camper used. A rear heavy camper will add more flex. Newer trucks have reduced the frame flexing. I would think it would be good to test the max flex with the camper on to see what you actually need. I have a 15 year old Dodge 2 series short bed with a hydro formed frame, with a very thin and sticky bed mat, which has little flex at least with my 1745 pound (wet) Lance on the back. Probably more now that I added 200W solar.
