We bought our Thousand Trails membership because of the numerous campgrounds available at no charge. They then merged with Equity Lifestyle and we now have their CC and RV parks as well. Maybe paid too much when we purchased but after all these years of camping, we are now camping on their dime. Look for membership up for sale, it may work out for you as well.
We also camp at SP, NP and even the occasional KOA.
The cost is not the only consideration but as mentioned in a previous post "I bought the trailer for getting out there an enjoying life". So True.
