How much TT can I pull full time with a ...

GMC Sierra Classic SLT 2500HD Crew Cab short bed with a Duramax LBZ Engine with Allison Transmission?

I am hoping to buy a new 30-35 foot upper end 4 seasons travel trailer, probably one of the models made by Outdoors RV in La Grande, Oregon. I would like to have the truck purchased first so I can simply hook it up and take off for my new full time life of traveling.

Would this truck be more than enough? or ideally will I wish I had a 1 ton dually diesel.

    No way would I buy a dually for a TT. Any new 1 ton SRW will do fine. Save the money for a good Hensley Arrow or Pro Pride hitch. You'll get the best of both with that setup. A better riding truck when not towing and a sway free tow.

    No one suggested a dually! There is such a thing as a 1 ton SRW(single rear wheel) truck and that is what has been suggested.


    Re-read Donny, The OP suggested / asked about the dually!

    The 2014 Ram 3500 has the highest tow rating (by 6000 lbs more - up to 30,000 lbs:E) than the other guys, and offers rear air suspension from the factory.

    I can tell you friends that have ridden in our RAM say it rides much better then their Ford.

    Proper rear tire air pressure is important.

    After getting into each truck over the prescribed sections, the Ram was clearly the hands-down winner. Both the front- and rear-ends of the truck felt more solid and controlled, better able to absorb the irregularities of the dirt and pavements

    Okay, so I spring for a 1 ton NON-dually. I am disabled and need some comfort in driving. Which make truck do you think will give me the most comfortable ride over long distances. I don't really want to feel every crease in the road. I suppose I have always read that chevy's ride is the least harsh. What do you guys think?

    Up to the maximum tow rating, payload rating, or receiver rating, whichever comes first.
