In my opinion you are good to go on pretty much any bumper pull trailer I know of with the truck you have mentioned as long as you don't plan on putting very heavy stuff in the bed of the truck.
A 3500 srw should not be much more money but they can be harder to find on dealer lots. However I don't think a 3500 is needed but it usually doesn't hurt to have more truck than you need.
