How often do yall sanitize your fresh water tank?

I've never sanitized my tank in 30 years unless the OP calls dumping a cap of water fresh in the tank when I fill it up sanitizing?

Sanitizing is part of the spring de-winterizing tasks, I use pink stuff for winterizing lines and traps so no problem while I am messing with the water system. It is really easy to do. I really like my Arctic Fox fresh water dump valve. It takes very little time to drain the tank.

I sanitize once a year as part of the dewinterizing process. My family doesn't drink the tank water but use it in coffee percolator (boiled) and brush teeth with it etc. So I do it for piece of mind and keeping my family safe. I wouldn't drink water with bleach in it but was wondering if it left any residual odors or taste.

You don't drink the bleach water. After sanitizing for a few hours up to 24 hours, you dump and fill with fresh water.

Seems lots of people use bleach. Maybe I should start doing this periodically. How much bleach should be used in a 40 gal tank? I don't want to use so much bleach that it can be smelled or tasted.

I Sanitize the tank twice a year and the water I drink with two fingers of Jameson.
