X2
Only time I have ever sanitized is when I purchased a used unit or when I got a load of untreated well water.
Otherwise.......why?
Do you sanitize your S&B water system???
Fresh water tank....has fresh water in it....which is used to wash/shower/cook/drink
Why doesnt RVng have to be complicated..........H - phillygExplorer III rarely do ours and we've occasionally made coffee out of the tank water, and of course, wash dishes with it. Guess I should do it at least yearly but we can't recall linking any sickness to the tank water.
- rockhillmanorExplorerI full time so I bleach out the fresh tank OFTEN. When ever I get the chance I run a tank thru with bleach.
In my travels that tank sees a lot of different CG's and way too many questionable and high sulfur and/iron CG well waters! That and a sealed plastic tank and high ambient outside temperatures? Well IMHO it's the perfect petri dish for bacteria. I squash them with bleach.
I do NOT drink from the fresh tank or use it to prepare foods or coffee. - Sam_SpadeExplorer

I don't normally drink water from the RV fresh water tank and I got to wondering if others do. Do yall drink water that comes through your RV and if so, how often should the system be sanitized with bleach?
I can't bring myself to drink it either. I store it out of season with about 5 gallons of "chlorine shock" solution in it (black water tank too) and drive it a few miles to agitate good. - JohndanielscpaExplorerI sanitize once a year (in the Spring). I drink directly from the tap and have never had a problem.

The drinking/cooking/Ice maker water from it does go through a Nature Pure filter that makes all fresh water safe to drink. - cbshoestringExplorer IIEvery spring...
I never really fill my holding tank, but I like to know it is ready should I choose to. Plus, the easiest way to get a complete sanitary system is to fill the tank (bleach & water) then run it thru the entire system. - ValkyriebushExplorer IIOnce a year in the spring. Don't drink tank water either. For shower and toilet only.
- CramboExplorerThank yall. I'm gonna go ahead and do mine just to be safe
- gboppExplorerI usually do it once, in the spring. But, there is nothing wrong with doing it several times a year. It's up to the individual.
