How often do you buy new trailer?

We were having a conversation and this question was discussed. Just wondering....how often, on average, do you guys trade in/buy new trailers and why?
  • Three truck campers and one travel trailer since about 1987.
  • So far, my first trailer lasted about 25 years. I hope my current one makes it that long. For that matter, I hope I make it that long!

  • In the 30 years we've been married:

Tent camping and pop-up rental: 12 years
Pop-up 6 years. Got tired of folding up in the rain wet.
1st TT: 3 years (small, no oven, corner bed, jack knife couch. Didn't like any of this by the 3rd year.
2nd TT: 8 years. Eventually did not like the floor plan, no slides, became crowded, even with just 2 people.
3rd TT: owned for 1 year now. No plans to trade.

See my profile (to the left) to see my different camping styles.

    Thats a biased question...

For the rich Eeey year to get the latest and greatest...IMO

For the poor like myself its until the wheels fall off....

Not a smart question and why are you asking?????

    Buy what you can afford...

Sorry I didn't ask a "smart" question. We had interesting conversation between a few families at home about it, so I thought we could do likewise here. Sorry if I offended you.
  • Almost 5 years on the first one. we have no plans to purchase another.

because we like it.. and we own it free and clear..

For the poor like myself its until the wheels fall off....LOL

  • Every five years. We're full timers so we're tired of the same ol same ol by then!
  • Reasons for trading in/selling vary - sometimes we're ready for a new kind of RV, other times we've wanted to upsize or downsize. 5 years with our first RV (small MH) 17 years with our PUP, 3 years with our HTT, 6 years with our first (big) TT, this is the first year with our new (smaller) TT.
  • Eight new trailers (3 in 2004) plus one fifth wheel and a couple of truck campers since I retired in 2003. I use them pretty hard and like new stuff. Don't ask me about tow vehicles, but I have not had one go out of warranty in the same time period.
