Wow, what a bunch of different opinions. My truck has a 26 gallon tank and will average about 10mpg. That means 11-12 sometimes and 8 to 9 in mountains. I don't run it past 200 miles. If DW needs to use the bathroom I pull into a station and fill up while she is in the trailer which may only be 100 miles.
I have been shopping around and I am going to purchase 2 of the 2 1/2 gallon metal safety cans, set them down in a milk crate and strap them down in the back of the pickup under the cover. I had rather lift two small cans than one large one. That idea came from this thread so thank you.
Now from the tone in this thread, I probably just started another debate about milk crates. Yes I have two and they have the dairy company's name on the side of them. They were given to me by one of the dairy companies drivers who said they were junk and they could not use them any longer.
Those crates are the perfect size for propane canisters too! Happy travels!
