Be careful refueling portable gas containers in pickup trucks . Do a search on the topic. Many pdf's out there .

Lot of misinformation in those "PDFs" also.
Plastic portable containers cannot in any way shape or form cause sparks, metal cans, perhaps I can give you a hall pass on but plastic, not really, it is an insulator..
Sort of like the supposed cellphones causing fires at gas stations..
My tank happens to be all steel, not sure of the gauge but let me tell you it is as sturdy as say a air caddy in construction.
It also has a grounding wire that I connect to the vehicle frame.
I have no fear of refilling it in the back of my truck and since it is at the same static potential as my vehicle. Not to mention it is sturdy enough to be a pressure vessel I have no fear of it being damaged during an accident.
But if you fear static sparks during refueling, the answer is simple, make sure you touch your vehicle with your hand before grabbing the station nozzle, that makes you and the vehicle at the same static level..
Then with the other hand grab the station nozzle while it is in the pump holder, now the pump is at the same static level as you and the vehicle.
If all are at the same static level at the same time no static discharge can happen.
