FWIW, finding a tire mounter that is involved in his work and knows his stuff is not easy to find. These guys are paid squat and their interest is only as much as personal work ethic allows. I have a couple of shops that service my wheel work and I trust both to do a good job. It hasn't always been like that, I got back an aftermarket German sports rim, once, with over two pounds of lead stuck on it.
Wow, that tire must have had one jumbo lump on it to need that much lead.
Not really, I was having new tires mounted. To be fair to the tire guy, they are not the easiest rims to balance. They're similar to
these split rims. The wheel didn't need an almost continuous covering of lead, though. He admitted to me that he had troubles balancing them.
How's chills doing with his new tires?
