See... the SAFETY aspect is suggested, but reality is a COMFORT issue.
I'll give an example.  I wear body armor every day at work.  It is super uncomfortable.  It is hot and sweaty, restricts my motion and adds weight/bulk.  However, it is much safer for my profession.  SAFETY and COMFORT don't have to both exist at the same time.  Sure, its nice when they can.  If I could afford a Ram 3500 Cummins with all the options and could afford to fuel and insure it, I would probably have one.  But I can't, nor do I need all that power.  My Tundra has met every need of mine... to include comfort.  I don't feel white knuckled at all.  I'm not pushed around.  My brakes have stopped me every time I've needed them and within the distance I needed to stop.
