Funny, I have a 2011 F250, 6.7, Lariet and my payload rating in 2100+. Less that your 150. So beware, the "go to the 3/4 ton can be misleading.
And frustrating, a bs number as far as what you are actually CAPABLE of carrying, it is only a number that states what you are RATED or ALLOWED to carry to stay within the parameters of being rated at a less than 10,000 lb vehicle, thereby not affecting your registration into a heavier class.
Nothing to do with actual real capacity. This may have been covered, I didn't read all 18 pages. I am just so aggravated with all the talk of payload by those who don't get that is about rating, not capability.
This is not to say that carrying more is thereby legal, or correct. But at the same time, the proof is right there as a comparison of these two posts. An F150 has a higher MECHANICAL CAPACITY than a HD 250? Nope. Ratings. To save you money when you get your little sticker for your tag.
Period.
You have such a low payload because of that honking big and HEAVY diesel in your truck. You should have got an F350 or a gas F250.
The F150 is a lighter truck with a much lighter but still powerful engine. So it can carry about the same. No surprise there. The GVWR ratings the engineers put on these trucks make sense to me.
