I wouldn't have felt so bad had I been pulling the gooseneck but no, this was just my little RV.
I bet the Allison would have down shifted. That would have boosted the rear axle torque by about 30% brought the rpm up to about 2650 and the engine could have revved to 3150 and 60 mph or so before the torque dropped off again. I guess maybe that's why the Ford doesn't do so well at the king of mountain competitions.
